Drum Unit Replacement Guide

Procedure

Replace the drums only when instructed to do so by the printer, not before.
Replace all 4 drums at the same time!

  1. Turn off the device.

  1. Open the right side cover.

  1. On the right side of the printer: Unlock the waste bin by turning the latch 90 degrees to the left.

  1. Hold the handle of the waste container and pull the container out of the printer. Hold the container with the opening facing up to avoid spilling toner. Place the waste container on a level surface.

    CAUTION: Place the waste container only in an upright position to prevent toner spills and avoid malfunctions.

  1. Go to the drums. From top to bottom, the units are Yellow, Magenta, Cyan, and Black.

  1. The respective drum:
    1. Grasp the tab, press down, and pull it straight out of the device.

    3. Unpack new drums
    4. Remove protective film
    5. Insert the new drums into the device and let them snap into place.

CAUTION: Do not touch the top of the drum unit. Avoid exposing the unit to light for more than 5 minutes.

  1. Cleaning rod under the black Exposure unit Remove from the printer. This cleaning stick is used to clean the four laser lenses, one for each color.

NOTE: There are four openings, one for each laser lens. There are four cleaning openings, one for each toner color. From top to bottom, the corresponding colors are yellow, magenta, cyan, and black.

  1. Insert the cleaning rod into one of the four cleaning openings until it clicks into place. Then pull the rod out. Repeat this process twice.
  2. Repeat the cleaning process for the other three openings.

  1. Return the cleaning rod to its original position.

  1. Replace the trash can

  1. To lock the trash can: Turn the latch 90 degrees to the right. The trash can is locked when the latch is in the vertical position.

  1. Close the right side cover.
  2. Turn on the printer.
